Adhesion Tester
Adhesion Tester
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The strength of adhesion between any two layers of flexible materials bonded together either with the help of an adhesive or by curing can be determined by finding the force needed to separate the two layers at a specified speed. The two layers are first separated for about 30 mm with the help of a sharp knife. The end of one of the layers it attached to a grip mounted on a force measuring arrangement while that of the other layer is held in the moving grip.
The PROLIFIC Adhesion Tester is suitable for determining the adhesion strength between any two bonded layers of flexible materials. It consists of a force measuring arrangement for determining the force needed for separating the two layers, and a set of jaw type grips which can be moved away from each other at a specified speed with the help of a screw arrangement.
The force needed for causing the two layers to separate is determined with the help of a spring dynamometer having two pointers, a black pointer for indicating the force acting on the bonded joint, and a red dummy pointer for indicating the maximum force needed for causing separation. The tester is finished in grey hammertone painting and bright chrome / zinc plating to give it a corrosion resistant finish.
